When I first met Sam I was instantly disarmed by her huge smile and warm disposition. As she chatted with me about her trip up to Seattle from her native Port Angeles and lined up her lingerie choices I was whisked into a pleasant comfort and a feeling that Sam and I have known each other for years.
I loved Sam’s alternative look – her Star War and Harry Potter tattoos especially spoke to me and we giggled about our common nerdiness and love of the fantastical. For her boudoir session I wanted to highlight her uniqueness and felt like the combination of indoors and outdoors in my studio was the perfect recipe.
We played with light and shadow, we enhanced the textures in Sam’s images by adding brick walls and old, grungy windows. The creativity was flowing freely and I loved every image we were creating together.
Sam’s comfort in front of the camera was contagious and I soon found myself pushing us to get shots I have envisioned in my head for a while but never had yet captured. They turned out beautiful and exactly as I imagined them. It is such a wonderful feeling to create a collaborative environment with the person you are photographing because it truly brings out the best and the most creative ideas from both parties.
Without further ado I present you Sam’s images. I hope you love them as much as we did creating them.
